Bi-optic scanning and weighing for retail checkout

The Datalogic Magellan 9600i reads retail barcodes through horizontal and vertical windows. Four imaging cameras and diffused illumination support fast item presentation with comfortable lighting. Choose a scanner-only model or a scanner/scale with the platter, mounting style and regional weighing configuration your checkout requires.

In the Box

Magellan 9600i with the selected platter, produce rail and mounting configuration
US power brick and cord only where specified by the selected package
USB Type-A, USB POT or RS-232 cable only where specified; cable-free packages require a separate interface cable
Remote scale display on packages marked with display
96127001000-000500: scanner only; power accessories and cable sold separately

Color cameras, AI hardware and external scales are configuration-dependent options. Images and video may show optional equipment. Scale packages use the stated US, Canada or Mexico configuration.

Comfortable scanning from more angles

Four global-shutter imaging cameras cover the horizontal and vertical reading planes. Diffused LEDs reduce harsh illumination while visual and adjustable audible feedback confirm successful reads.

Help prevent weighing errors

The All-Weighs platter combines horizontal and vertical weighing surfaces for large items. On equipped configurations, ScaleSentry detects items extending beyond the weighing surface and alerts the operator.

Model selection glossary

Platter length: The scanning surface length. Choose a size that fits the counter cutout; available sizes vary by model.

Shelf / flange mount: Shelf mount rests on support below the scanner. Flange mount hangs from brackets resting in countertop recesses.

Produce rail: Supports bulky items above the surrounding counter while weighing. Fixed stays raised; flip-up is movable; flush/no rail has no raised rail. A rail does not include a scale.

Scanner only / scanner-scale: Scanner only reads barcodes; scanner-scale also includes a weighing mechanism. A weight display may be separate.

Adaptive-scale-ready: Designed to accept a compatible third-party scale. The scale and integration hardware are separate.

Scale display: The separate weight readout. No display included does not mean no scale is included.

Color camera: Captures item images for supported applications, such as produce recognition. Compatible processing hardware and software are required.

USB Type-A / RS-232: USB or serial connection to the POS. Cable, host connection and POS software must be compatible.

USB POT: Power Off Terminal: requires a compatible powered USB connection. An ordinary USB-A port may not power the scanner.

Power / cable separate: The power supply powers the scanner; the interface cable connects to the POS. Separate means that item is not included.

Regional scale configuration: Weighing units, display language and approved scale configuration must suit the installation. These are separate from the power-cord type.

Single interval / ScaleSentry: Single interval uses one weighing increment across the scale range. ScaleSentry, when equipped, alerts when items extend beyond the weighing surface.
